Programme
Métiers d?Art & Patrimoine guided tours in Pézenas resume in May!
The Communauté d?Agglomération and Ateliers d?Art de France, in partnership with the town of Pézenas, invite you in May to discover the town?s heritage and the skills of two designers:
ceramist Nathalie BERTAUD, and textile designer Salomé SUWAL.
Nathalie Bertaud works in her workshop “Taupinette et Cie” with her husband. Working together, the two designers have made ceramic creation a personal and professional adventure.
Their creations, made in stoneware, turned or slab-formed, come in a range of colorful expressions. Some of their pieces play on the contrast between the raw texture of the clay and the color of the glazes. On others, the airy, naïve decoration is applied freehand, like an illustration, with colored touches of oxide juice. Animals and rural flowers add dreamlike poetry to these ceramic works.
Salomé Suwal has always had a passion for color and materials, and trained in textile design at the Beaux-Arts. Steeped in the world of decoration, she now creates textile objects: kits, tote bags, bananas… She also devotes herself to embroidery, exploring its many possibilities.
Fabric is her favorite material and source of inspiration. Velvet in winter, cotton in spring, wax in summer… Seeing, touching and choosing materials are the moments she prefers and that sharpen her creativity. As part of her eco-responsible approach, the designer buys small quantities of fabric to avoid wastage and to create unique pieces or very small series.
