Pézenas welcomes “Figure libre
Exhibition by visual artist MIHA
“Originally from Paris, my background is rooted in communications studies, which led to a career in publishing and press relations. These experiences, enriched by years of ocean travel, have nurtured my sensitivity to the world and broadened my understanding of the many facets of human identity.
It was when I moved to Antibes in 2001 that I decided to devote myself fully to the visual arts, a passion that has always been with me. As a self-taught artist, I honed my skills over the course of a ten-year collaboration with the Opéra de Nice, where I helped create stage sets as a set painter/craftswoman. This experience has enabled me to master a variety of techniques over the years.
In 2013, I settled in Pézenas and affirmed my singular artistic language by building a resolutely personal universe.
My work is characterized by a reflection on identity and singularity. From geometrically shaped faces to voluptuous sculptures, my works invite contemplation, where the observer is called upon to question, feel and celebrate beauty in imperfection.
Color is at the heart of my artistic approach. It embodies the language of emotions and is a structuring element in my work. I explore vibrant, contrasting palettes that capture the eye and awaken the senses, while balancing them with more neutral hues – beiges, greys, blacks – to create singular harmonies and compositions. Each palette is born in the moment, guided by the energy and spontaneity of the moment, and contributes to giving soul to my work.
My practice revolves around mixed media, where acrylic paint, ink, pastel and collage meet to enrich my works with unexpected textures and details.
In sculpture, I adapt to the possibilities offered by the materials: polystyrene and resins enable me to create imposing, monumental pieces, while clay favors a more intimate, introspective approach.
Through my creations, I seek to question notions of identity, to sublimate difference and to offer a vision where imperfection becomes a source of harmony and beauty. “
