For a holiday or just a weekend, you’ll love taking the time to explore the diversity of landscapes and all the gems of the local, historical, cultural and culinary heritage.
And taking your time also means using alternative ways to get around and forgetting the daily routine… It’s time to enjoy the pleasant slow tourism experience! Ours is the perfect destination for that kind of holiday – gentle and eco-friendly, with a pleasant atmosphere. Forget the car, we have something better that’s much more fun, eco-friendly and economical: buses, bikes, boats and the little tourist train, as well as walking of course.
BY BIKE
Did you know that the destination Cap d’Agde Méditerranée has been awarded the “Accueil Vélo” seal of approval?
Indeed, here there’s no limit to cycling solutions, on the seafront, along the Midi Canal, through the vineyards… 43 km of cycle paths and greenways, 500 km of mountain bike trails, long-distance itineraries like “the Mediterranean by bike” along the Midi Canal [EuroVélo8] on an East-West route and the GTMC running from North to South… Whether you’re an occasional cyclist, into family bike rides, up for a cycling challenge or just want to enjoy a power-assisted bike ride, this is the destination for you.
Check out our favourites: our Top 5 bike rides.
Planning a cycling holiday? Look out for the “Accueil Vélo” sign identifying bike-friendly establishments on our website (labels filter). These have everything you need to take care of your eco-friendly means of locomotion: lockable bike shed, repair kit, bike-wash facility, practical documents and luggage forwarding services.
Came without your bike? No worries! You’ll find a bike rental shop near your holiday accommodation. Our tip: if you’re tempted by a cycling holiday, check out our range of E-bikes!
BY BUS
Looking for a practical and economical means of transport for your day-to-day travel, one that’s in line with your desire to keep your holiday’s carbon footprint to a minimum? Then buses are the solution for you!
This is an excellent way to take your time and let someone else do the driving while you chat and share friendly moments with other travellers.
CapBus boasts a whole network of scheduled services to satisfy your travel needs within and between the towns and cities of our region.
During the summer, the buses go into “holiday” mode with 5 scheduled services running to and from the beaches, late buses, 2 services for Pézenas and an express service for Cap d’Agde. Relax and enjoy the ride!
ON THE TOURIST TRAIN
Make yourself comfortable on the Cap d’Agde Tourist Train and prepare to explore the town and the surrounding area. An exploration of the resort via three scenic tours with commentary about the local history. Along the beach front, on the edge of the volcanic cliffs and to the top of Mont Saint-Loup, admire our seascapes from the tourist train. And because the train’s gentle pace is ideal for a pleasant ride on a balmy evening, there are night-time rides too!
In Vias too, the Campsite Tourist Train invites you to leave your car in the shade and go with the flow: a quick trip to the market, an afternoon at the beach, a shopping spree on the seafront, an evening at the Fabrikus World funfair… Everything you need for a holiday without the stress of parking!
ON FOOT
Cap d’Agde is heaven for pedestrians! All over the quayside and between the apartment blocks, you’ll easily find a pedestrian alley to get around safely.
There are several options for walkers: check out the “Walks & hikes” page and take your pick depending on where you’re staying, or take inspiration from our suggestions for exploring in the great outdoors! Looking for panoramic viewpoints? Then climbing up Mont Saint-Loup is just the thing for you!
BY BOAT
This is a seaside destination, so there’s no avoiding a boat trip! And for getting around, you have several options:
• the Hérault crossing on the ferry sailing between the Grau d’Agde and Tamarissière quaysides (this fast and pleasant shuttle service saves you several kilometres),
• the Coches d’eau boat service inside the marina, plus a beach shuttle service!
• the boat bus between Agde and the mouth of the Hérault (Le Grau d’Agde or La Tamarissière) offers some fabulous exploring and transport possibilities, especially if you come by train!
These pleasant seagoing vessels take you on a gentle ride across the water.
