PLATEAU DES MÈGERIES

BESSAN
The Plateau des Mègeries in Bessan, in the Hérault department, is a 33-hectare site classified as Natura 2000, where vines, crops and fallow land grow side by side. It is home to protected bird species such as the Little Bustard and the Red-legged Partridge, as well as temporary Mediterranean ponds, which promote local biodiversity and the presence of heritage plant species. Management measures, including sheep grazing, are in place to create open habitats favourable to the Little Bustard and other species of lowland farmland fauna.

Guided tours of the site are organised as part of the Fête de la Nature.
