EXHIBITION
Spaniards in the camps
The photographs by Paul Senn (1901–1953) bear witness to the Retirada, a conflict that the great Swiss photojournalist followed from start to finish and even beyond, through his reports from the internment camps, particularly that of Rivesaltes in 1941.
A committed photographer, Paul Senn covered the Spanish Civil War from 1937 onwards, the retreat of the International Brigades and, in early 1939, the exodus of Spaniards to France. Always close to the action, always empathetic, he produced striking portraits.
Presented by the Edmond Charlot Media Library
An exhibition of photographs by Paul Senn on loan from the Rivesaltes Camp Memorial.
