The treasury of the collegiate church of Saint John was set up in the former chapter house. It is defined as the “museum” place created within the religious sanctuary and by the objects that compose it.
Museums
The only one of its kind in the département, the musée-trésor in the collegiate church of Saint-Jean in Pézenas houses an exceptional collection of sacred art from the 17th to the 19th centuries: paintings, chapiers, liturgical vestments, devotional objects, reliquaries, sacred vases, large church santons, remarkable pieces of gold and silverware, etc. Partly refurbished in 1994 on the initiative of the French Ministry of Culture, its interest lies in the diversity and artistic quality of the works on display.
The treasure museum occupies the sacristies and chapter house of the collegiate church, built by the architect Jean-Baptiste Franque in 1740.
