In Tourbes, during the Neolithic period, a major 1st Iron Age necropolis was discovered at Bonne-Terre, and several Gallo-Roman villae were found around the village.
In the 10th century, a small settlement with a church existed; called Torves and then Torreves, the village became Tourbes.
Mentioned for the first time in 990, its history follows that of the town of Pézenas from 1261, when the two towns were bought by King Saint-Louis.
A stroll from the heart of the village takes you to discover the many XV, XVI and XVIIth century winegrowers' houses and the imposing 14th-century Southern Gothic church of Saint-Saturnin.
On the outskirts of Pézenas, discover Tourbes, which stands on hills dotted with garrigues, pinewoods and vineyards, with its 3-kilometre "Wild Orchid Trail" (marked in yellow)...
