“DU CAMP AU MUSÉE : LES ARTISTES CATALANS (1939-1942)”

AGDE

Programme

Among the 24,000 refugees in the Camp d’Agde in 1939, Catalan artists were so talented that Jean Félix, the town’s mayor, asked them to decorate the town hall’s marriage hall.

This exhibition presents works by painter Pere Cadena (1906-1974), wrought-iron artist Antoni Clavell (1902-1981) and sculptor Angel Tarrac (1898-1979), created for the Museum.

A work by contemporary artists Bernard and Mélie Cauhapé on the theme of the Agde camp and exile, created for the 11th edition of “Art en cours” as part of the European Museum Night, will also feature in the exhibition.
