Agde, 2600 years of history

Discover the " black pearl of the Mediterranean "

Agde is one of the oldest cities in France : it began with a Greek settlement founded in 540 BC by the Phocaeans. The many buildings made up of the volcanic rock basalt have brought about a unique architecture and a maze of timeless alleys at the foot of the Mont Saint-Loup, which marks the southernmost end of the Auvergne volcano chain.

Set out on a guided tour of the most beautiful sites and monuments : the historic town centre, the Saint-Etienne cathedral and its dungeon, the Saint-Sever church, the private mansions from the 16th and 17th century…
A guided visit will learn you all about the town's past. Take your pick from the following theme tours : "seafaring history", "spiritual & profane histroy", "treasure hunt".
